Merck in China
Merck has been active in China since 1995, when the first representative office was opened. Today, over 1.700 employees are working in China. The main locations are Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang and Hong Kong.
Merck Chemicals consists of two divisions, Performance Materials and Merck Millipore, and is headquartered in Beijing. Merck Serono, the biopharmaceutical division of Merck Group, has its headquarters in Beijing as well. Merck Serono is number one in the fertility and thyroid therapeutic markets in this area, and has strong presence in endocrinology, oncology, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases.
